#minecraft #DamnationMC Server…

Well lately I have been working on a more personal project.  I started a MMO Styled Minecraft server that I hope to get more customized then choice plugins.  While the server is running some inter-dependencies need to be a little more smoothly meshed together.  Currently one of the crux plugins seems to have an error loading permissions for the other plugins. Short of that my CEO from my EVE Online corp has been assisting me in developing this server.  You can thank him for almost the entirety of the newbie area.

I have myself been succumbing to that insatiable bug causing Minecraft to stutter something fierce.  This has unfortunately set me back on my launching of the server as I cannot even get in it to start building my own little projects for the new players.  @Notch is due for an update soon, I just hope he manages to identify and remedy this issue that has been plaguing his player base.

Im FAMOUS! On #eveonline

Well.. not really.  However my T-Shirt design once again graced the advertisement posted at login!!

#fuck911truthers like this guy in the video!

Please please please STOP messaging me 9/11 truth bullshit.  I got linked to a video of a total moron holding a degree and job I am questioning at this point.

I watched it, and I can say its all bullshit LOL.

First the guy has no prior real experience working with hi-rises other then his latest project. But all the points he discusses, they are entirely flawed. His primary point of the fact that the way the buildings imploded was not indicative of any prior fire damage in history, well he (in his lack of experience) failed to note a few VERY important things that I KNOW exist as a fact of order.

In buildings that high, a simple fire can escatale to 2x the EXPECTED temperature for the fact that the wind was BLOWING into the building, causing a massive spike in temperatures.

The other was something so simple a chiminea can teach you. Get any fire going and build it high enough, and you can slag a metal chiminea, crack a ceramic one, even though its INTENDED for its use. Basically the guy took a bunch of textbook bullshit and applied it without really thinking about it.

I watched the whole video, and I dont see how a demolitions team is going to plant explosives so “perfectly” as needed to do a perfect demolition as he calls it. The plane literally HIT where those charges are supposedly placed.

The guy is just a total mook who is in over his head. I didn’t need a fact finding mission to tell me what I already know from simple architectual mechanics and the way buildings are designed. I can say for a fact that the fires inside that building esp with elevator shafts to act as superior wind tunnels fed the fires to the steel melting point.

If a blacksmith can make the same steel in a friggin rock/brick forge with air billows, then a plane carrying hundreds of gallons of fuel can melt that sucker like salt through a slug.   If you are awed by the concept that jet fuel + high volumes of air + flame can melt high heat resistant steel, WHERE DO YOU THINK STEEL COMES FROM?! The first makers of steel didn’t use alien technology.  They used Fire, Rock, Air, and Water.

BUT WAIT! “Look at all that smoke!” You THINK? probably a good 10 floors are higher then 451 degrees (temp that paper burns).  So I would suggest to say a LOT of smoke is exiting that structure.

BUT WAIT! AGAIN! “Just prior to the …”.  Seriously dude.  If a building is to the point of collapse, shit INSIDE the building has already started falling.  Those items falling cause a shift of the internal airflow, and thus, cause a shift in the smoke visible on the exterior.

I’d suggest for you to go outside and play with matches to learn how fire works, but then I would be afraid you would somehow post yet another video displaying your lack of value of the oxygen you are wasting on the fundamental physics of fire being a conspiracy plot.

Btw I tagged this one “fan fiction” for the fact the video author seems to be a fan of fiction.

Special preview into the future…

On the tails of success…

After having come in at second place as stated in the previous contest, my Intuos4 Large tablet finally arrived.  Just to keep it short so I may pick up my wife, the below image is the very first attempt at drawing on a tablet for me.  Current progress is about 55 minutes of work, with some more shading, detailing, and line removal, then upper body work and background.  The image is completely freehand with only a Star Wars action figure pack image as a guide.  I am not tracing or overlaying any images during this project, and will do so only after the final product to compare for myself if my proportions were correct and how well I did.

Without further delay, my work in progress!

Aspirations and Victory

As life has been slowing down to a crawl and I am left with untold hours of deliberation about where things could have gone better and why they didn’t, an opportunity presented itself by grabbing my wifes attention.  @Stephyt has long supported me and acknowledged I have some level of skill in design and art where I always kinda muddled around a bit.  She knows I have been struggling to find something for me to do, something creative that I can either see or feel a result directly.

In part this is what prompted me to pursue glassblowing and ceramics, a hobby and I hope some day business that I will be embarking upon with a good friend.  Anyhow, my wife, in all her mysterious I-find-all-the-coolest-stuff-on-the-web ways, found out about Jinx having a t-shirt design contest for EVE Online (my mistress).  She immediately told me about it, and being myself in a slump, had immediate thoughts of  ”what the hell good am i going to do anyway, I don’t have a tablet, and I don’t have the skill or knowhow of some of these people…”

I decided to say screw it and craft an entry purely as something I want, something that was designed for my own desire and not what would garner the attention of everyone else.

The following is the result of my efforts:

I have spent the last 2 weeks checking daily, hourly, minute by minute, all in a doubtful remorse that I will never see my t-shirt place, though I had a good feeling it would be printed.  My optimism did rise a bit when since day one, my entry received and maintained the lead of the most comments displayed of all entries.  The entry however was to have final say by both Jinx and CCP.  I had hopes that they would approve it at the least, however I had not put a EVE logo on the t-shirt as last minute rush to get it out to Jinx I had hidden the layer.  This cropped up in a lot of comments and I had been concerned I made a grievous error for the final judging.

As it stands, today I get an email containing the following:

Congratulations and a hardy HooooRaaah, Keenan!

Your EVE entry has placed 2nd in the J!NX EVE ONLINE competition!  As such, you are entitled to our 2nd place prize which includes $750, a $250 J!NX Gift Certificate, and a slew of other prizes from CCP.

OMF……………..wait let me read that again……………………… HOLY SHIT YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I couldn’t believe what I was reading!! Not only and I bouncing through my skull at the moment, but I am salivating at the thought of plying my design skills in other contests regardless of the outcome.  I am victorious in the contest that mattered.  So if some day I see you wearing a design of mine, I will have EVE Online and Jinx to thank for selecting my work, and my loving wife who pointed me in the right direction.

Something Else…

Well I decided to make a post as that last one just pissed me off every time I loaded my own blog.

Work:
Currently I have been unable to find work for myself other then a few hours here and there driving the dump truck for my father.  I have been looking into some certifications I can obtain in the meantime with my parents help to get myself a computer industry job.  Seeing as that was what I was trying to do with my own company before UPS decided to screw me over and refuse to pay the insurance, I at least have some industry experience.

I am not quite sure which direction I want to go though for certifications however.  I am really interested in Linux based system management and program development, however I have little experience in that field.  As far as it comes to setting up Windows Environments I am pretty well versed in that, but I do not think it will have much success for the simple fact that business do not like the idea of shelling out thousands of dollars on the OS and related software before they have a working product.

So it stands at the moment that I either enroll in some short term classes in the areas I want to pursue certification and delay finding any type of job, or I try and take some certifications in the field I am knowledgeable in but not really want to do for a living.  I would be open to any suggestions of those who are familiar with that side of the industry.

Play:
With the release of EVE Online: Incursion 1.0.2, I have been able to assign 3.48m SP dedicated to Drones and Gallente Carrier related skills on “a newbie”, and train “Lady Tsuki” to utilize her Mining Mind Link and get her Industrial Command Ships to within 12 days training remaining for level 5.   I was informed afterwards that my corporation will be purchasing me a Thanatos to use as both my own and corporate use.

A newbie also got his first kill mail in a long time, during a Black Ops run, catching several neutrals in a trap.  My victim, an Astarte, a rather poorly fit one at that.

Anyhow, I will be watching a Nick Frost series: Hyperdrive.

@stephyt’s co-worker.

After getting a phone call from my very irritated, and most likely very embarrassed and apologetic wife, it appears that a co-worker felt I was using a Christmas party as an opportunity to perv some pictures of her chest. This then lead to a a text that I was NOT supposed to show up at her birthday party with my wife who is her co-worker and our phones had been dropping texts so we didn’t get it.  Awkwardness ensued and I just wanted to clear things up.

That being said, the actual trip was wonderful and I was very happy with the main course and the hotel. Marriot Quincy/Boston a MUST!

We will miss you Keith…

I am posting this because on Wednesday the 29th, Keith Bonome (a subcontractor I can remember working for my father for well over 20 years or something) fell off a roof above 2 stories and hit his head on a rock. Unfortunately the injuries he sustained resulted in brain swelling and numerous internal injuries that he could have recovered from, but what removed all hope was that somewhere from the job site to the second hospital (stabilized and moved to specialist center) his brain was deprived of oxygen for 20 minutes or so.

My father, obviously one who developed a relationship over this time, is currently a wreck, and knowing him I just hope he is not seating the blame on himself. It is hard losing a friend and comrade of two decades, but it is even hard when that happens on your job, your watch, and to be right there witnessing it when it happens. I don’t think there is any comfort I can offer my father other then to be there if he needs something, and with this family we are too stubborn to ask for water when stranded in a desert.

Keith’s long enduring enthusiasm for sports has turned up the positive light, 7 our of 10 organs will be donated, due to his extremely fit condition. Some fortunate souls are going to live longer because of this tragedy. I hope they make good decisions for the remainder of their lives.

I was told the family plans to cremate his remains and spread them in his two most favorite spots this coming weekend.

It will be difficult to imagine the job site without him around.
